Here are some photos of a few of our favorite customers Jagdish Mistry, Sam Guttman, and Pete Chronis during a three week bike adventure out West. All the bikes the guys rode were purchased from JBS. Jagdish Mistry rides a custom touring Waterford with couplers, 26″ wheels and disc brakes. Sam Guttman also rides a custom Waterford with couplers and custom paint. Pete Chronis rides a Cannondale touring bike originally purchased from Jim’s in the late 1980′s (we’ve been around since 1976!).

An avid cyclist himself, fashion photographer Bill Cunningham recently made a video for the New York Times Style section including New Yorkers on the street, riding bicycles. You can view the video here: http://video.nytimes.com/video/2011/09/02/fashion/100000001032512/bill-cunningham–cycles.html
A documentary was recently made about Bill Cunningham, which is worth checking out too. http://www.zeitgeistfilms.com/billcunninghamnewyork/
Have you ever stopped to notice a mirror made of bike chains that hangs in Jim’s Bicycle Shop? The mirror was given to Jim two years ago by customer, and now friend, Kathie Anderson. The mirror belonged to her son, Michael Gould, who worked on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center’s north tower. Years after that fateful day, Kathie and her husband Jeff moved to Montgomery in 2009, and once she felt ready to part with her son’s belongings, Kathie strolled into JBS with one request, “Will you hang my son’s bike chain mirror on your wall?” I happily accepted the mirror and was proud to hang it in my shop, honoring Michael and his memory.
Ours thoughts are with Kathie and all of those affected by September 11…remembering them on the 10 year anniversary.
All the best,
